Well a couple of you may have heard me banging on about getting a new flashlight for a few months now. Well I finally went out there and did it, I had been looking at all the well known makes such as surefire and also at the Chinese copies of various other torches out there going on a few basic features of what I would need. They were
Ease of use
Durability
The ability to be mounted into standard mounts for my RIF
a low and high power settings.
Affordability
After scouring the web for some time I came across the Fenix TK10 and it seemed to fulfill all other the above and all the other reviews I read about it sounded promising.
Durable
hard wearing
a 60 lumen and 225 lumen setting
and a bargain at £49.95 with free postage and two free CR123a batteries RRP £8.99
So as soon as I had the cash I went and ordered it.
Well first off RM lost my parcel so not off to a great start there
So lay in my pit one morning only to hear that familiar banging on the door that could only mean one of two things either the Police were here to serve a warrant or the post had arrived
Upon opening the package low and behold there was my shiny new torch and I set about ripping open the packaging with all the excitement of a young child at Christmas.
Now for the good bit
The first thing you realize when you pick up this torch is how well it is put together this thing is bloody solid as a rock.
So popping in the two free batteries and trying it out I was immediately impressed 60 lumen setting was bright but turning the bezel anticlockwise to engage the higher setting of 225 lumen nearly burnt my bloody eyes out
It also has ease of operation with a tail cap switch.
You also get a package with spare O-rings, a belt clip and a pouch a lifetimes free repair you just pay for parts after the first 12 months.
Batteries last for ages too .. 10 hrs constant use at 60 lumen and 1.5 hours at the higher setting of 225 lumen so you get a good run life out of your batteries which considering the price of batteries these days is a good thing.
It's LED based but don't let this put you off this thing can throw a beam of light nearly 200m of the higher setting. It also means it generates very little heat
I really can't see a downside to this torch.
I took it to the factory in Rochdale and on the higher setting I was able to illuminate the entire middle floor of the second building without having to move the torch around
I bought mine from Here
If you in the market for a torch that will give you value for money and be a great performer then I would recommend that you give the Fenix TK10 at try
Cheers
